Inspirations and Contributions
Ammi and Abbu, who gave me roots and ensured they run deep and strong. Thank you!
Umar, who gave me wings.. your encouragement and faith in my abilities makes me believe I can do anything I ever dream of doing..
My adorable Mahnoorie, this is all for you babe, you make me want to be the world’s best mom
Little Mehr, I have a massive favour to ask of you.. you know you’re going to be hugest contributor to this cause by being one of those low maintenance happy babies who don’t drive their mommies nuts so they can get other things done around the house?! pretty please?
My urdu teachers -
Mrs. Naqvi, your endless dictation tests have surely paid off. Not only can I claim to have perfected the spellings of the darnedest of Urdu words, I’ve grown up to be one of them spelling nazis, quick to notice and cringe at even a tiny sowsha missing.. yes thats about as big a crime as writing ک for where a ق should’ve come!
(Mrs. Navqi taught us 8th Grade Urdu at The Mama Parsi Girls School, Karachi)
Ms. Siddiqi, I can’t thank you enough for introducing me to the joys of classic Urdu poetry. Yes we grumbled back then for having to make sense out of words that we didn’t even know how to pronounce, let alone know what they meant, but it wasn’t long before they proved to be one of the most profound and beautiful sounding set of words stringed together in harmony. Would you believe if I say that I went on to write urdu poetry of my own! OK nothing Mirza Ghalib standard but pretty neat nonetheless!
(Ms. Siddiqi taught us O‘Level Udru right through 9th Grade to 11th at The St. Joseph’s Convent School, Karachi.)
..and most importantly,
Rashda Phuphu, I just can’t thank you enough for your priceless contribution! I had a dream but no direction.. It is your decades of experience at nurturing young minds that gave this dream a form! Your suggested lesson plans and the unique approach at introducing Urdu alphabets the phonetic way and making it as easy and confusion free as possible is definitely a first of its kind! I am sure your method will create a revolution in the way urdu has been taught for all these years. May it grow to be adopted and embraced as the most favoured method for teaching Urdu worldwide!
Thanks again! I wish I didn’t find myself fumbling for the perfect words to express my gratitude and appreciation. *HUGS*
